Every year we'd go next door to our cousins' house on Christmas Eve and my aunt would give us the Christmas cookies and punch she made. My aunt iced the cookies and decorated them with colored cake sprinkles and those little silver cake decorations and to me the cookies were so special and beautiful. She made the punch with grape juice, lemonade and gingerale and it was delicious. But the thing that really stands out in my memory was this. It spun from the heat of the candles and when it spun the chimes would ring. Very simple.

Last year I spent Christmas with my boyfriend's Jewish family. They go to the movies and Chinese food on Christmas. I saw tons of extremely Jewish looking people in both these places. They're doing it right.

My family has the same tradition and a few years ago my fiance gave my dad 'tWas the night before Christmas in Newfoundland so we read that one now.

my parents used to kick the side of our house so i would think it was the reindeer on the roof. had me convinced for a few years

Even though I am an atheist, I love going to midnight mass. The church is beautifully decorated, the choir singing, being with my family. It makes for a magical feeling.
