Late to the party, but easily when I had pneumonia when I was 15. I only remember feeling like I was constantly suffocating and the few times I was conscious, my entire chest felt like it was about to implode. The pain was so extreme at points that I was blacking out from it (though I’m sure the oxygen deprivation didn’t help.) Apparently I should’ve been dead. One lung almost completely full and the other almost halfway, oxygen at critically low levels. I’m sure I have permanent lung damage now. I still get random, unexplainable chest pains and when colds and allergies hit me, they hit me hard. At some point in my life, I plan on getting tested for COPD. Otherwise, probably when my lady bits decided to be a bitch and create a disease that apparently, 80% of doctors around here didn’t know existed. (It’s not uncommon.) I still deal with residual pain from that, too. Good ol’ ‘murican healthcare!
