Here’s the thing: unlike the HBO series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, also known as Game of Thrones, isn’t finished yet. The last published book, “A Dance with Dragons,” came out in 2011 and only covers a part of the story.
There are strong hints that the book series will have a different ending than the show. Author George R.R. Martin has said his plans for the characters differ from what unfolded on screen.
So, we simply don’t know how the books will end. Fans speculate based on foreshadowing and clues within the published novels, but that’s all it is – speculation. We’ll have to wait for the release of the next books, “The Winds of Winter” and “A Dream of Spring,” to find out for sure.
