What are some great novel series like Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter etc which we might have missed because it haven’t been made into a movie or a TV show ?

It's more aimed for middle schoolers, but I think the Pendragon series by DJ MacHale is definitely up there, and can be enjoyed by any age group. It's one of my all-time favorites series. If you enjoy it, also check out Morpheus Road, by the same author. Also, there's The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel books by Michael Scott, which is an amazing, creative series, incorporating science, history, magic, and mythology. A movie is in the works, but so far it remains a book series solely.

The best book series I ever read as the 12-book Cirque du Freak series. I got so hooked, Crepsley is the coolest fictional character ever. There are so many twists and turns, every book ends on a cliffhanger except the last which actually ties every little thing together, none of it is rushed. For me it was an exciting, emotional, tragic, fascinating, intriguing roller coaster ride. I wish they'd make a TV series that actually stayed true to the books.

C. S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower saga. Here's how good it is: Gene Roddenberry read the series and based Captain Kirk off Captain Hornblower. Really - - it's Star Trek on an 18th Century British ship of the line.  Start with Beat to Quarters and see if you aren't hooked in 50 pages.

"They made the first book into a film but they did a horrible job with it. Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Not a series, but Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is a fantastic read. It's a bit painful to get through the first part but my god are you rewarded so well for sticking with it. Anything by David Eddings is great if you're not really well versed in fantasy, his books follow the same pattern, but they're great for the character interaction. Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy is another good series, urban fantasy set in Ireland, the main character is a skeleton detective, if that doesn't sell you on it I don't know what would.

There is a kind of magic, there are strange creatures and evil monsters, and a devil-like being trying to destroy the world.  I read the majority of the series twice, but have yet to read the last couple books. It has been so long now that I think I will endeavor to read the whole works over again.

The Dresden Files is very good. (Ignore the TV show...I'm sure you haven't seen it, and let's just pretend it doesn't exist.) I really enjoyed Codex Alera. The funny thing is that Jim Butcher wrote it as a bet: a good author can take the worst premise ever and make a great story out of it. A heckler picked a premise (The Lost Roman Legion meets Pokemon) and Butcher tore it up!
