Like others have said, it’s just impossible to predict how any of these will work in any human body/mind. It’s up to you to keep track. I think everybody experiences one or more side effects on them all. You may find you end up with you’re OK with the side effects, because the drug itself makes you accepting of them. Like a tradeoff for feeling better. Most of them do stop when you go off the drug. But if you ever get even one twitch or involuntary movement? Get off at once and don’t start again!! Don’t dismiss it. Those tend to not go away.
Those are all things you should be discussing with your doctor. I assume he scheduled a follow-up? For the record, if you ARE having any serious side effects your doctor will change your prescription or dosage. Just be honest and tell the doc everything.
I’m on citalopram right now. Second SSRi I’ve ever been on. You will most likely get side effects but most go away after 2 weeks or so. It won’t change who you are. It won’t change your personality, it will just make you feel ‘normal’.
Don’t expect to become happy on it. It’s supposed to relieve you from the deep bouts of somberness. Also, if this drug works out for you and you’ve found the right dosage, you’re supposed to keep taking it 6 months to 1 year after the symptoms of depression have disappeared. Please do so- ’cause if you don’t, the chance of recurrence is much higher. And please, consult your doctor over this.
Is there anyway you can change your situation? It’s just that it’s not very healthy at all to use anti-depressants. They don’t better your situation they just make you not care.
