American users what do you think Australia is like?

It seems a lot like the US except with backwards weather and more animals that can kill you. I recently watched two Australia drama series that, sadly, really drove home how much like the US it is. I can't remember the name of the first one but the second was Stateless. It sounds like Australia has a pretty messed up government and a refugee immigration detainment system that rivals ours for poor treatment of detainees.

I used to think that it was nothing but kangaroos running around everywhere, and that everyone lived like crocodile Dundee. But from what a friend has told me it's a very diverse country, hopefully one day I'll get to go check it out.

Backwards seasons ie summer Christmases. Singing Christmas songs about snow when its hot af outside doesn't make any sense to me. Also why are there so many snakes in your toilets, or snakes falling from the ceilings. I swear I see a snapchat story about snakes in random places in someone's house and its always in Australia
